Postgame Notes
- Indiana Men's Basketball improved to 9-1 on the year Tuesday with a 57-54 victory over the Connecticut Huskies in the 25th annual Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Hoosiers are now 3-1 in the event.
- The Hoosiers improve to 4-6 against the Huskies with their last victory coming from Jan. 20, 2007 in Hartford, Conn.
- Indiana opened the game up by scoring the first two baskets with shots falling from freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis and senior forward Devonte Green.
- At the 12:13 mark in the first half, sophomore guard Rob Phinisee checked in for the first time in four games after dealing with an injury.
- After falling down 26-16 with 5:17 remaining in the first half, the Hoosiers went on a 16-1 run and took the lead 30-27 on a Green 3-pointer with 1:56 left. Indiana ended the half on an 18-3 run to take a 34-29 at halftime.
- Indiana's largest lead in the game came off of a junior guard Aljami Durham jumper with 15:21 remaining in the game to give the Hoosiers a 38-31 lead.
- Phinisee's offensive rebound and two free throws with 21.2 seconds left in the game helped give the Hoosiers a 56-51 lead in a critical moment. Green's steal with 2.5 seconds remaining sealed the game.
- The Hoosier defense forced 22 turnovers, while UConn came in only averaging 12.1 turnovers per game. Indiana only committed 13 turnovers.
- Indiana made 13-of-18 (72.2 percent) from the free throw line, while only allowing the Huskies to make 6-of-10 (60.0 percent) of their attempts.
- Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk scored a team-high nine points that all came in the second half. He also grabbed two rebounds in 19 minutes.
- Durham also scored nine points in 30 minutes and added a team-high three assists.
- Jackson-Davis scored eight points and added three steals, while securing a team-high seven rebounds.
- Smith had a team-high three steals and scored eight points, while grabbing four rebounds in 36 minutes of action.
- Phinisee scored six points in his return, including 4-of-4 from the free throw line and grabbed four rebounds, while dishing out two assists.
- Green scored six points in 30 minutes, grabbed three rebounds and added two steals.
- Senior forward De'Ron Davis scored four points for the Hoosiers and grabbed a rebound.
- Freshman guard Armaan Franklin saw eight minutes of playing time and scored three points for the Hoosiers.
- Redshirt freshman forward Jerome Hunter tallied two points, a steal and a blocked shot in 11 minutes.
- Sophomore forward Damezi Anderson played 13 minutes, while scoring two points and adding two assists.
- Redshirt sophomore forward Race Thompson saw four minutes of playing time for the Hoosiers.
- The Hoosiers will return home to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall at 8 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 13th to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
