Mullen Named First-Team Freshman All-American by The Athletic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana cornerback Tiawan Mullen was named to The Athletic first-team Freshman All-America team on Thursday. He was named a 247Sports first-team True Freshman All-American and a second-team PFF All-Freshman Team member on Monday.
An honorable-mention All-B1G selection, Mullen has started the last seven games and played in all 12. He shares the league lead (15th nationally) with 12 passes broken up.
The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native has 25 stops, 22 solo, with 3.5 TFLs, and a team-high-tying two forced fumbles (T-13th in the Big Ten) and two fumble recoveries (T-3rd in the Big Ten, T-25th nationally).
Mullen broke up four passes at No. 25 Michigan State and at Purdue in the regular-season finale, where he posted career-highs with eight tackles, six solos and 2.5 for loss, and he added one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
A Rivals four-star prospect, Mullen played in the 2019 All-American Bowl after he picked off 14 career passes and returned three for scores. His brother, Trayvon, played cornerback at Clemson University (2016-18) and is a member of the Oakland Raiders, and his cousin, Lamar Jackson, is the Baltimore Ravens quarterback.
