
NOTES: IU Hosts No. 17/19 Florida State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

OPENING TIP
Indiana University is in its 120th season of competition in men's basketball and will host #17/19 Florida State on Tuesday in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Hoosiers are coming off a 64-50 win over South Dakota State in the Indiana Challenge, while the Seminoles won the Emerald Coast Classic defeating Purdue in overtime in the championship game, 63-60 on Saturday. This is the 5th straight year and 7th in the last 8 challenges that IU has faced a ranked opponent.
A victory on Tuesday would give IU an 8-0 start for the first time since the 2012-13 season when they began the year 9-0. The Hoosiers just completed an undefeated month for the second time in two seasons (6-0, December, 2018).

THE COACHES
Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his third season of guiding the Cream and Crimson. He is 181-94 in eight-plus years as a head coach, which includes six years at the University of Dayton. His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014. He is 42-31 at IU. Leonard Hamilton is 361-217 in 18 seasons with FSU. He has been a head coach for 32 years with stops at Miami and Oklahoma State and is 561-427 overall.

Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis is averaging a team-high 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds. He leads the team shooting 66.1% from the floor and in blocked shots with 16. He is coming off his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 14 rebounds against South Dakota State. Among freshmen nationally, he is 2nd in FG%, 3rd in blocked shots and 4th in rebounding. For his efforts this week, the Center Grove graduate was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 20.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in wins over Louisiana Tech and South Dakota State.
Junior Justin Smith had 18 points and 8 boards against SDSU and is averaging a 14.3 points and 5.1 rebounds and leads the team in steals with 14. Junior Aljami Durham leads the team averaging 13.7 points and is shooting 56.9% from the field and 42.3% from long distance. Senior Devonte Green is averaging 14.3 points per game in his last 3 games and is shooting 45.0% from behind the arc since rejoining the lineup 4 games ago.
ODDS AND TRENDS
IU leads the nation in free throws made per game at 21.0 and free throws attempted at 29.0 per game. The Hoosiers are 6th in the nation in scoring (86.4) and are 7th in field goal percentage shooting 51.4% from the field. IU is 7-11 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and will face FSU for the first time in the event.
