Franklin Named Big Ten Co-Freshman Of The Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University guard Armaan Franklin has been named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the fourth time a Hoosier has been honored this season. He scored 17 points, including the game-winning three-pointer with 15.7 seconds left in the Hoosiers 62-60 win over Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic. He shared the award with D.J. Carton of Ohio State. Teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis has been honored three times this season.
Franklin, who began the day shooting 14% from three-point range making 4 of 28 long distance shots, came into the game with IU leading 17-16 and hit a 3-pointer and three free throws in two possessions to allow IU to build momentum and take a 34-23 lead into halftime. He had 9 points at the break.
The Hoosiers led by as many as 17 in the second half but Notre Dame rallied and had a 59-54 lead with the ball with just over 3 minutes left. Franklin hit another triple with 2:49 to go, took a charge and forced a turnover with 1:38 remaining, assisted on the game tying basket by Jackson-Davis with a minute to play and drilled the game-winner with 15.7 seconds left from the left corner.
For the day, he made 5 of 6 field goals, 4 of 5 from three-point range and 3 of 4 free throws.
