Postgame Notes
- Indiana Basketball improved to 8-0 with an 80-64 victory over #17/19 Florida State (7-2) in the 21st annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
- Indiana is off to its best start since it beginning the season 9-0 in the 2012-13 season.
- The game marked the fifth-straight year that IU has faced a ranked team in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and seventh out of the last eight.
- The Hoosiers are now 8-11 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and 5-0 all-time against Florida State. This was their first meeting in the Challenge.
- This is head coach Archie Miller's sixth win against a ranked team while at IU. The victory gives the Hoosiers three-straight wins against ranked opponents at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Miller is now 11-3 during the month of December with the Hoosiers.
- The Hoosiers outrebounded the Seminoles 35-25 and Indiana is 35-10 when outrebounding its opponents in the Miller era.
- After falling behind 11-4, the Hoosiers went on a 12-0 run and took their first lead of the game on a layup from freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis with 14:14 remaining in the first half and never relinquished the lead.
- Indiana came into the game leading the nation in free throws made per game (21.0) and free throw attempts per game (29.0). The Hoosiers put up 38 and made 23 on Tuesday night.
- Senior guard Devonte Green hit three straight 3-pointers over the course of a 10-2 IU run late in the first half. Green has converted multiple 3-point tries in four out of five games. He has made at least three in three games this season.
- After Florida State cut the lead to three with 8:17 left in the game the Hoosiers went on a 13-2 run, capped off by a 3-pointer from sophomore forward Damezi Anderson that forced a timeout with 3:23 remaining. The Hoosiers have yet to trail in the second half this season.
- Green's fifth 3-pointer with 1:39 remaining gave the Hoosiers its largest lead of the game at 17 points. The lead never went under double digits over the last 4:08 of the game.
- Indiana's point total marked the most points allowed by the Florida State defense through nine games this season. The Seminoles had previously yielded a season-high 74 points against Western Carolina. The Hoosiers surpassed that that mark with 2:18 remaining in the game with two free throws by freshman guard Armaan Franklin.
- Three Hoosiers scored in double figures, Green (30), Jackson-Davis (15) and junior forward Justin Smith (14).
- Green put up a career-high 30 points on a game high five 3-pointers and added six rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes.
- He is the first Hoosier to score at least 30 points in a game since Juwan Morgan (35) against Butler on Dec. 15, 2018.
- The reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Jackson-Davis, tallied 15 points and finished just shy of his fifth double-double with eight rebounds. He also added a team-high two blocks.
- Smith scored 14 points for the Hoosiers and grabbed five rebounds in 35 minutes.
- Armaan Franklin scored a career-high nine points and dished out an assist in 26 minutes of playing time.
- Junior guard Aljami Durham scored five points for the Hoosiers and dished out a team-high four assists in 26 minutes.
- Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk scored four points and grabbed three rebounds for Indiana.
- Anderson hit a 3-pointer in the win and had an assist and a block in a season-high 20 minutes of action.
- Redshirt sophomore forward Race Thompson grabbed three rebounds in nine minutes.
- Redshirt freshman forward Jerome Hunter recorded two rebounds in seven minutes of action.
- Senior forward De'Ron Davis saw playing time in the first half against Florida State.
- Up next, the Hoosiers will see their first action away from Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall when they open up their 20-game Big Ten slate at Wisconsin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019.
