BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Indiana women's tennis head coach Ramiro Azcui has announced the addition of Sayda Hernandez and Jacqueline Stasny in the 2020 signing class.
Hernandez is from Hilton Head, S.C. and trains at Smith Stearns Tennis Academy in Hilton Head.
Hernandez is a five-star recruit and has been ranked as high as #47 in the nation in the 2020 class by tennisrecruiting.net. She has a UTR of 10.13.
"Sayda possesses great ball striking ability," Azcui said. "Though she has played most of her junior career in the southern section, we feel her game style is really suited for indoor tennis. We are excited to sign one of the top American players in the 2020 class, and we look forward to seeing what Sayda will accomplish both on and off the court here at Indiana."
Stasny is from Woodbridge, Ill., and trained the past few years with former IU men's tennis player, Tom Lockhard, who also coached current Hoosier, Jelly Bozovic. Stasny went to Benet Academy.
Stasny is a four-star recruit and has been ranked as high as #109 in the nation in the 2020 class by tennisrecruiting.net. She has risen 300 spots in the national rankings in the last two years.
Stasny comes to Indiana University and plans to pursue a degree in Business.
"Jacqueline has been one of the fastest risers in the 2020 class over the past couple of years," Azcui said. "She is just scratching the surface of what she can become as a player and we know she is driven to excel academically and athletically at Indiana. Jacqueline comes from a Big Ten family, and we know she'll wear the Indiana uniform with great pride."
