Hill and Hamilton See Personal Records on Night One of Power Five Invite

ANN ARBOR, Mich.— Indiana Track & Field concluded day one of the Power Five Invite on Friday night. Alexis Hill got the Hoosiers off on the right foot as she recorded a new personal record in the open weight throw after nabbing a distance of 19.59m (64' 3.25") to take second. Not long after, Claire Hamilton improved her PR to 4:53.29 in the mile to lead the field through two sections.
Freshman Hope Purcell snagged the fifth qualifying spot after seeing a time of 8.86 in the 60m hurdles prelims. William Session returned to the track on Friday night to qualify for the finals of the 60m hurdles clocking a time of 8.04. Purcell and Session return on Saturday as the finals are scheduled for 12 p.m. and 12:05 p.m.
In the women's 60m prelims, Megan Grabowski crossed the finish line in a time of 7.70 to move on to Saturday's final. On the men's side, Rikkoi Brathwaite also qualified for the finals in the event with a time of 6.87. The women's final is slated for 12:10 p.m. while the men will compete at 12:15 p.m..
Bryce Millar clocked his best time of the season on his way to a first-place finish in the 5000m (14:17.57). True freshman Reese Jordan made his collegiate debut in the event as he placed fourth in a time of 14:31.97.
Mallory Mulzer was the lone Hoosier to compete in the women's 600m as she took fourth and notched a time of 1:32.52. The Indiana men went 2-3-5 in the 600m as Jalen Royal led the Hoosiers with a time of 1:19.14. Adam Wallace (1:19.72) and Zubin Muncherji (1:20.08) rounded out the field for Indiana.
Indiana will return to action tomorrow with the invitational long jump, men's invitational weight throw and women's invitational shot put. All the events have a scheduled start time of 11 a.m.
