
Indiana Falls At Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Indiana Women's Basketball fell on Thursday night at Michigan, 67-58. Sophomores Bendu Yeaney and Jaelynn Penn each put up double figures as the Hoosiers closed out a road swing in Crisler Center.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Hoosiers trailed by as many as 10 in the opening quarter but were sparked by an 8-0 run to close the gap to two, 18-16.
- In the second, redshirt junior forward Brenna Wise tracked down the loose ball and took it all the way to tie it up at 18 to start the quarter. The two teams would trade ties as sophomore guard Bendu Yeaney would break it up with a triple at the top of the key with 4:29 to play.
- That's when Indiana would hit the pedal and go on a 9-0 run to take a 31-26 lead at the break.
- Back-to-back buckets from freshman guard Grace Berger and senior forward Kym Royster extended Indiana's lead to the largest of the night, 36-25. But the Wolverines would make a run and tie things up at 35-all with 6:47 to play in the third. It would be part of U-M outscoring IU, 25-17. Wise would hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining but Michigan responded on the other end to take a 51-48 lead.
- Freshman forward Aleksa Gulbe would regain the lead on an offensive board and putback to make it 52-51 at the 8:51 mark. After a Wolverine lead, Gulbe connected on a triple at the top of the key giving IU a two-point lead, 55-53.
- But Indiana would go cold from the field in the final 4:13 of the game as Michigan went on a 12-1 to close it out.
NOTABLE
- Sophomore guard Bendu Yeaney led the way for IU with 16 points while adding five rebounds.
- Sophomore guard Jaelynn Penn added 15 points with a team-high four assists.
- Behind three steals from freshman guard Grace Berger, IU picked up a season-high 12 steals and forced 20 Wolverine turnovers.
- Sophomore guard Keyanna Warthen added a career-high three steals and a season-high four rebounds.
- The Hoosiers committed just nine turnovers in the loss, their fewest of the season.
- The game featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes.
- Indiana shot just 37.9 percent from the floor and 50 percent (4-for-8) at the free throw line.
- Michigan was led by four players in double figures, behind a double-double from senior Hallie Thome (14 points, 11 rebounds) and 16 points from guard Akienreh Johnson. They also went 51.1 percent from the floor and 88.2 percent from the free throw line.
