Luigs and Danishek Win Bouts, Hawkeyes Top Hoosiers

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Redshirt freshman Kyle Luigs upset No. 18 Max Murin, but the Hoosiers dropped a 37-9 dual against the No. 3 Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday.
After Iowa got a pin and a technical fall to open the dual in came Luigs at 141 against No. 18 Max Murin of Iowa. Luigs showed his scrambling ability and led 8-6 in the third period, when with 47 seconds left he got the fall to win the match. The pin is the fourth of the season for Luigs.
After Iowa got another fall at 149, redshirt senior Jake Danishek earned a 5-1 decision for his 17th win of the season. Danishek (17-10) improved to 5-2 in Big Ten duals this season.
The Hoosiers (5-11, 1-7) scored their most points against the Hawkeyes (13-0, 8-0) since 2012.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Minneapolis for a dual against #8 Minnesota on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
