IUTF Earns 11 entries into NCAA Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Indiana Track & Field will send eight athletes and two relay teams to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend. This is the most entries since the 2010 Indoor championship that saw 14 Hoosiers entered. The championships will be held in Birmingham, Ala. and will be hosted by the University of Alabama- Birmingham along with the city of Birmingham on Mar. 8 and 9.
On the women's side, three Hoosiers will compete in individual events for the first time in their careers. Kelsey Harris will compete in the 800m while also running the 800m leg of the distance medley relay. Harris is seeded No. 15 in the 800m. Khayla Dawson is seeded No. 7 in shot put after a personal record performance of 17.42m (57' 2") at the Power Five Invitational. Rounding out the trio of Hoosiers is Princess Brinkley who will compete in the weight throw. The sophomore broke the school record earlier this season after throwing a distance of 21.53m (70' 7.75") at Hoosier Hills.
The women's DMR qualified for next week's championships. Haley Harris (1200m), Natalie Price (400m), Kelsey Harris (800m), and Katherine Receveur (mile) will make up the relay squad who is seeded No. 6 going into the meet.
For the men, five will compete individually as four will make their first appearance at the national meet. Veteran Kyle Mau will make his second appearance as he is entered in the mile and 3000m. The redshirt junior will also run the anchor leg of the men's DMR. Cooper Williams will compete in the 800m while also running the same distance in the DMR for Indiana. In the field, Adam Coulon will compete in the pole vault while teammate Eric Bethea is set to compete in the triple jump.
The men's DMR qualified after setting a school time of 9:27.30 at Indiana Relays. Daniel Michalski (1200m), Zubin Muncherji (400m), Williams (800m), and Mau (mile) will make up the relay team.
ESPN3 will be the home of championships with the live stream starting at 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Mar. 8 and starting at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, Mar. 9.
