Hoosiers Return Home With 17 All-American Honors at NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— Competition for Indiana Track & Field at the NCAA Indoor Championships has come to a close as the squad earned 17 All-American honors throughout the two day meet. Ben Veatch, Kyle Mau, Cooper Williams, Eric Bethea, Adam Coulon, Kelsey Harris, Khayla Dawson, Princess Brinkley and both DMR teams became All-Americans this weekend.
Leading the Hoosiers in the awards effort was Kyle Mauwith three All-American credits. After qualifying for the mile, the redshirt junior raced to a top-10 finish to pick up Second Team All-American. Two hours later, he competed in the 3000m where he saw ninth place, giving him another Second Team-All America award. Mau also ran the anchor leg of the men's DMR that placed fourth and grabbed First Team All-American honors.
Cooper Williams had a solid weekend as he became an All-American in two events. In his first event, Williams ran the 800m leg of the men's DMR to pick up his first award after the team finished fourth. On day two of the championships, he competed in the finals of the 800m where he placed fifth for his second first team honor.
Ben Veatch returned for his second indoor season which saw success in the 5000m. The sophomore nabbed First Team All-American for his seventh-place effort in the event.
Khayla Dawson saw her first All-American award of her career in the shot put on Friday night. After making it to the finals, the junior worked her way to a sixth-place finish.
Kelsey Harris was the final Hoosier to become a First Team All-American this weekend. The senior raced in the final of the women's 800m and nabbed seventh place.
In the men's triple jump, Eric Bethea became a Second Team All-American. Also in the field Adam Coulon and Princess Brinkley were able to secure Second Team All-American credit to end their indoor seasons.
Both DMR squads were on display this weekend as both teams collected First Team All-American awards. The men's team consisting of Daniel Michalski, Zubin Muncherji, Cooper Williams, and Kyle Mau raced to fourth place overall. On the women's side, Haley Harris, Natalie Price, Kelsey Harris, and Katherine Receveur finished eighth.
With these 17 awards, Head Coach Ron Helmer now has an impressive total of 470.
