Postgame Notes
• Indiana knocked off two Top 10 teams in a season for the first time since beating No. 3 Kansas and No. 3 UNC in 2016-17. The win over the Tar Heels was also the last Top 10 win at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• The Hoosiers swept Michigan State for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
• Indiana won back-to-back games against Top 25 teams for the first time since March 1, 2016 (at No. 16 Iowa) and March 6, 2016 (No. 14 Maryland).
• IU defeated its fourth ranked team (No. 24 Marquette, No. 6 Michigan State (2x), No. 19 Wisconsin) this season.
• Indiana also recorded its second Top 6 while unranked for the first time since the 1981-82 season (at No. 6 Minnesota, vs. No. 5 Iowa)
• In the second half, the Hoosiers outrebounded the Spartans 20-11 and 10-1 on the offensive boards.
• IU went on a 9-0 run lasting 1:45 from 13:50 to 11:42 in the second half, cutting the MSU lead to one point.
• Hoosiers went on a 7-0 run the last 4:13 of the ballgame that included their first lead since the first minute of the game.
• Sophomore Justin Smith led IU in scoring and set his single game career-high in points with 24 and made field goals with nine. Smith's three 3-pointers were also a career-high.
• Smith also had 13 of the Hoosiers first 14 points.
• Senior Juwan Morgan grabbed 11 rebounds on top of his seven points. The seven points brings Morgan's career total to 1,253, passing Tom VanArsdale for No. 32 on the Indiana All-Time Scoring List.
• Morgan's and-1 layup with 1:46 remaining proved to be the game-winning basket.
• The top freshman scorer in the Big Ten Romeo Langford put up nine points and added four rebound, two steals and a block.
• Freshman Rob Phinisee scored five points while adding three rebounds, five assists, and his third block of the season. Phinisee's close out defense on Cassius Winston on the final possession locked up the win.
• The second highest scorer for the Hoosiers was junior Devonte Green who contributed 13 points. Green went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
• Sophomore Al Durham hit on a three-pointer and had one rebound and one assist.
• In only eight minutes of action, junior De'Ron Davis hauled down three rebounds while adding two points and an steal.
• Both Zach McRoberts and Race Thompson saw minutes in the victory.
• The Hoosiers closed the first half making 5 of 7 field goals.
• Indiana overcame a 12-point deficit.
