BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— With the indoor season in the books, Indiana Track & Field saw success on some of the nation's largest stages. At NCAA Championships, the Hoosiers brought home 17 All-American honors while at Big Ten Championships they collected 11 all-conference accolades.
In the national meet, Khayla Dawson, Kelsey Harris, Ben Veatch, and Cooper Williams scooped first team All-American awards in their respective events. Dawson earned her first award in the shot put after notching sixth place. After a gritty 5K race, Veatch was able to race his way to a seventh-place finish to also earn his first All-American honor in the indoor season. Harris and Williams both competed in 800m with Williams placing fifth and Harris placing seventh. Both DMR teams were also on display and notched fourth (men) and eighth (women) place.
Another four were tabbed for second team All-American honors. Kyle Mau snagged two second team accolades after competing in the final of the mile and the 3000m. Adam Coulon took 12th in the pole vault to capture second team honors. Also picking up honors were Eric Bethea in the triple jump and Princess Brinkley in the weight throw.
As a team the men grabbed 19th overall and the women placed 35th. This was the best finish for the men since the 2013 season.
At Big Ten Championships, the Hoosiers saw four individuals claim Big Ten titles. In the field Jenna Jungels secured her first title in long jump while Eric Bethea snagged his second career Big Ten Championship in the triple jump. Also in the field, Adam Coulon saw his first title in the pole vault. On the oval, Ben Veatch out kicked his competitor in the back stretch to take home gold in the 3000m for the first time in his career. The foursome all earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team for the efforts at the championships.
Mau also picked up two All-Big Ten second team honors in the mile and 3000m at conference championships. Cooper Williams and Veatch rounded out a trio of Hoosier men picking up second team accolades as Williams took silver in the 800m and Veatch was runner up in the 5000m. On the women's side, Maggie Allen raced to a second-place finish in the 3000m and Leah Moran picked up silver in the triple jump to land on the second team list.
Both squads placed second at the conference meet. On the women's side this was the best finish under Head Coach Ron Helmer.
Two program records were broken this season for the Hoosiers. First the men's DMR team consisting of Daniel Michalski, Zubin Muncherji, Cooper Williams, and Kyle Mau smashed the record books at the Indiana Relays marking a new school best time of 9:27.31. A couple later at Hoosier Hills, Princess Brinkley stamped her name in program history after hitting mark a distance of 21.53m (70' 7.75") in the weight throw.
