
Crawford Named MVP at IU Football Awards Ceremony

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana football program honored senior safety Jonathan Crawford as the 2018 Anthony Thompson Most Valuable Player at the team's awards ceremony on Tuesday evening. Head coach Tom Allen recognized the team's seniors and handed out 2018 post-season awards inside the Henke Hall of Champions.
Crawford, offensive lineman Wes Martin (2nd time), defensive lineman Jacob Robinson and wide receiver Luke Timian were named the team captains.
Running back Ricky Brookins received the L.E.O. (Love Each Other) Award, presented by Allen.
Crawford and long snapper Dan Godsil became the first Hoosiers and the 12th and 13th Big Ten players to start 50 games (50).
A Largo, Fla., native, Crawford started every game since he arrived at Indiana in 2015. He shares eighth on the program's career list with nine interceptions.
The three-time honorable mention All-Big Ten selection made 275 tackles, 182 solo, two sacks, eight for loss, 19 takeaways, one pick-6, seven fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, 19 pass breakups and two blocked kicks.
Crawford participated in the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine after he topped the team in 2018 with 66 tackles and 44 solos. He shared the lead, third in the Big Ten and 24th nationally with two fumble recoveries, and tied for second with four takeaways, one interception and three PBUs.
Additionally, Crawford shared third on the club with one forced fumble and added one sack and 3.5 TFLs.
