Hoosiers Get Past Rutgers, 5-2

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team started senior weekend off with a 5-2 win over Rutgers at the IU Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Hoosiers (15-10, 5-5) won No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to win the doubles point and build a 1-0 lead in the match. The Indiana duo of Madison Appel and Jelly Bozovic at No. 1 doubles improved to 20-9 on the season while the No. 2 doubles team of Natalie Whalen and Caitlin Bernard improved to 27-6.
Indiana jumped out to a 3-0 lead with wins by Michelle McKamey and Whalen in singles. Rutgers (9-11, 1-9) won at No. 3 and No. 4 to close the gap to 3-2.
Appel came back from a first set loss to win her match in three sets and clinch the victory for the Hoosiers. Somer Henry played a back and forth match and was able to prevail to bring the final score to 5-2.
Up next the Hoosiers close out the regular season with a match against Maryland on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
