BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Ten-time All-American Jessica Parratto and two-time All-Big Ten men's basketball standout Juwan Morgan garnered the prestigious Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor Monday night at the annual Spirit of Indiana Showcase awards presentation.
Parratto was a dynamic force for the Hoosiers during her career in Bloomington, winning five Big Ten titles, the 2015 NCAA title in the platform and earning 10 All-America accolades. Parratto went out in style in the 2019 Big Ten Championships, winning the platform crown, earning Diver of the Championships honors and helping IU win the Big Ten team title. A 2016 Rio Olympian for Team USA, Parratto leaves IU as the school-record holder on the platform and owns 10 spots on the school's top-10 lists across all three diving events.
A two-time All-Big Ten performer, Morgan averaged 15.5 points and 8.2 rebounds and led the team with 54 blocked shots and 41 steals. He finished ninth in the league in scoring, fifth in rebounds and seventh in field goal percentage and blocked shots. The Waynesville, Mo. native recently completed a stellar four-year career which saw him finish 24th in career scoring at IU with 1,374 points, 10th in rebounds with 757, forth in career field goal percentage at 56.2% and eighth in blocked shots.
The Big Ten, the nation's oldest collegiate conference, commemorates the 105th anniversary of a very unique tradition - the Big Ten Medal of Honor. The conference's most exclusive award was the first of its kind in intercollegiate athletics to recognize academic and athletic excellence. The Big Ten Medal of Honor was first awarded in 1915 to one student-athlete from the graduating class of each university who had "attained the greatest proficiency in athletics and scholastic work." Big Ten schools currently feature almost 9,500 student-athletes, but only 28 earn this prestigious award on an annual basis. In the 105 years of the Medal of Honor, over 1,400 student-athletes have earned this
