Hoosiers Earn 23rd NCAA Championship Bid; Will Play in East Lansing Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana – For the sixth time under head coach Clint Wallman, the Indiana women's golf team will compete in the NCAA Championship after earning a bid to the East Lansing Regional.
The Hoosiers were one of 72 teams selected for the postseason tournament and will compete at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan from May 6-8. The regional his hosted by Michigan State University.
"I am really excited," Wallman said. "We have played some really strong golf since March and the team has worked hard to get back into the postseason mix. We love Forest Akers West, we played there earlier this year and it really fits our game."
Earlier this season, Indiana played in the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West and finished eighth out of 16 teams. Erin Harper led the way with a sixth-place finish while Angela Aung was tied for 24th.

From each of the four regionals, the low six teams and the low three individuals not on those teams (for a total of 24 teams and 12 individuals) advance to the national championships, May 17-22, hosted by the University of Arkansas at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Indiana is one of seven Big Ten programs to advance to the postseason, joining Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State and Purdue.
Indiana senior Erin Harper will be competing in the NCAA Championship for the third time in her four-year career. She helped the Hoosiers to a regional appearance as a freshman in 2016 and then qualified as an individual in 2018, where she would finish tied for seventh and earn a spot in the NCAA Finals.

Indiana enters the NCAA Championship Regional having finished first or second in three of their last four tournaments, including a tie for second place at the Big Ten Championships last week, the best team finish since 2004. They also claimed an 8-shot win over Purdue at the Lady Boilermaker Classic and finished second at the Briar's Creek Invitational in mid-March.
Individually, the Hoosiers are led by the trio of senior Erin Harper (73.23), sophomore Mary Parsons (73.35) and freshman Alexis Miestowski (73.62), who all carry scoring averages of less than 74.0 for the season. Each of those three also has at least one round of 67 or better to their credit this season.
Graduate transfer Kari Bellville is having the best season of her career, posting a scoring average of 74.65, nearly two strokes better than her previous best for a single season.
Sophomore Priscilla Schmid has a pair of Top 25 finishes in the spring season, including a third place finish at the Lady Boilermaker Classic and a T21 finish at the Westbrook Invitational.
Sophomore Angela Aung has improved her scoring average over a stroke from her freshman year and finished in the top half of the field at the Big Ten Championship after a final round 72.
