BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team has added Xiaowei "Rose" Hu (Beijing, China) IU head coach Ramiro Azcui announced on Tuesday.
Hu trained the last year at the Weil Tennis Academy and Prepatory School in Ojai, California and has a career-high International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior ranking of 286 in the world.
"Rose has extensive international tournament experience and already shows the maturity of a veteran player," Azcui said. "Her tireless work ethic and ability to push those around her are two traits that are very important to us when identifying prospective student-athletes. Rose is a very motivated young lady, and we have no doubt that Indiana University is the perfect place to help her reach all of her academic and athletic goals."
Rose has two career ITF junior Grade 5 singles championships and three career ITF junior doubles championships and one runner-up finish. She is a four-time ITA Summer Circuit singles semi-finalist and two-time doubles champion.
Rose has been playing the violin for 13 years and has received six degrees from the national music academy in China. She plans to pursue a degree in Business at Indiana.
