Jaelynn Penn Invited To U.S. Pan American Games Women’s Basketball Team Trials

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Indiana Women's Basketball rising junior guard Jaelynn Penn has been invited to USA Basketball Pan American Game team trials at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
The Louisville, Ky. native is one of 36 invited to try out for the 12-member team starting Thursday, May 16 through Monday, May 20. The selected roster will compete in the 2019 Pan Am games in Lima, Peru from Aug. 6-10, 2019. Teams competing in the event including the United States are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Paraguay, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This is Penn's first experience with USA Basketball and is one of six Big Ten athletes to attend the trails.
As a sophomore in 2018-19, Penn helped lead Indiana to a NCAA Tournament appearance as she averaged 13.9 points per game and earning spots on the All-Big Ten Second and Honorable Mention teams. She hit a team-high 57 3-pointers while scoring 474 points total as a sophomore. Penn played and started in all 34 games and scored in double figures 27 times including setting a new career-high 28 points against Michigan this season. She is on track to become the 27th member of the 1,000th point club as she has scored 874 points in her first two seasons in Cream and Crimson.
