
IUFH Announces 2019 Fall Schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Field Hockey and Head Coach Kayla Bashore have announced the 2019 fall schedule. They will face six opponents this season that saw action in the 2018 NCAA Tournament and seven opponents who appeared in the final top-25 ranking of the 2018 season.
The Hoosiers will open the 2019 campaign on Labor Day Weekend. They will travel to Louisville, Ky. on Friday, Aug. 30 to play the University of Louisville at 3 p.m. EST before returning home to host Drexel University on Sunday, Sept. 1. Indiana is 7-3 in the opening play the past five seasons.
Continuing the nonconference slate, Indiana will host Miami of Ohio and in-state foe Ball State on Friday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 8, respectively. IU holds the all-time record against both Miami (OH) and Ball State. They hold a 12-5 record over Ball State and 12-6 record with Miami (OH).
The squad will make their first road trip on Sept. 13 & 15 as they will faceoff against Saint Louis University and Fairfield. Both games will be played at Sportport International near Saint Louis, Mo.
The Hoosiers will open up Big Ten Conference play at Michigan State on Friday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. Last season against the Spartans, the score remained 0-0 with 5:16 left until Taylor Swope drove shot past the goalkeeper for the game winning goal.
Staying in the Big Ten, they host conference foes Michigan and Ohio State on Sept. 27 and 29. The Big Ten proves to be strong as six programs made the NCAA Tournament last season.
Rounding out the first half of the conference schedule before taking a break from B1G play, Bashore and the Hoosiers will take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Friday, Oct.4. Kent State comes to town on Sunday Oct. 6 for a midday matchup at Noon.
Indiana will head east the weekend of Oct. 11 for another slate of conference play. They play Rutgers on Friday, Oct. 11 and close out the weekend against the 2018 Big Ten Tournament Champions, Maryland on Sunday, Oct. 13. Maryland is coming off an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Championship game a year ago.
The Hawkeyes of Iowa will visit Bloomington, Ind. on Friday, Oct. 18 for a midafternoon contest at 3 p.m. at the IU Field Hockey Complex.
The last three games of the regular season will be spent on the road as the Hoosiers will visit Athens, Ohio to face off against Ohio on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. EST. They will round out the nonconference schedule on Friday, Oct. 25 against Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
The season finale and Big Ten Conference finale will commence in Evanston, Ill. on Friday, Nov. 1 where Indiana will take on Northwestern University at 4 p.m. EST.
Penn State will play host to the 2019 Big Ten Tournament starting on Nov. 7 with the championship game being held on Nov. 10.
