BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer head coach Erwin van Bennekom announced Alex Ng as the team's Director of Soccer Operations/Video Analyst on Monday.
Ng comes to Indiana after spending four seasons as the student assistant with Valparaiso Women's Soccer, where he assisted with game day and training sessions, as well as operated the team's video and performance analysis systems. In addition, he created and ran the team's social media accounts. Ng was also a student-athlete at Valparaiso, where he was the football team's starting punter all four seasons.
Alex will be responsible for all team, individual and opponent video breakdown, live and post-game coding as well as performance data analysis.
"Alex will be a tremendous addition to our staff," said van Bennekom. "With the college season being very condensed and on-field training time being limited, video sessions with our team, groups and individual players are of key importance to our daily progress. The operational role of Alex in this process will be vital for our program."
In addition to his time with the Valparaiso Women's Soccer program, Ng has coached with a variety of club teams such as Valpo Soccer Club and the Royal Palm Beach Strikers. He also spent a summer as assistant coach and game day operations for Detroit Sun FC, who advanced to the National Championship Tournament of the United Women's Soccer League.
Ng, who graduated Valparaiso with a degree in Exercise Science, is on track to complete his United States Soccer Federation "C" license this Spring and holds a United Soccer Coaches National Diploma.
"I want to first thank IU and Erwin for believing in me and allowing me to serve on his staff," said Ng. "I am tremendously grateful and unbelievably excited to work at an institution and conference with the history and reputation as Indiana and the Big Ten. This is an incredible opportunity to work with and learn from Erwin, Bri, Doug and Emily. We already have an incredible staff culture and I cannot wait to be a part of it. Something special is brewing here in Bloomington and I will go above and beyond to help this program reach new heights and develop into a top-level program in the country."
