School Record 10 Hoosiers Selected in MLB Draft

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana senior utility player Matt Lloyd (Round 15, Pick 444), senior right-handed pitcher Pauly Milto (Round 23, Pick 680), junior infielder Scotty Bradley (Round 36, Pick 1077), junior left-handed pitcher Cam Beauchamp (Round 36, Pick 1080), sophomore infielder Cole Barr (Round 37, Pick 1116), sophomore outfielder Elijah Dunham (Round 40, Pick 1204), and senior infielder Cade Bunnell (Round 40, Pick 1207) were each selected in the MLB Draft on Wednesday, bringing IU's total to a school record ten draft picks.
Lloyd, Milto, Bradley, Beauchamp, Barr, Dunahm and Bunnell now make 104 all-time draft picks at IU. They join Matt Gorski (Round 2, Pick 57), Andrew Saalfrank (Round 6, Pick 182) and Tanner Gordon (Round 6, Pick 187) as the 10 players taken this year for the Hoosiers. The 10 draft picks are first in the Big Ten this year and tied for fourth nationally.
A 2019 All-Big Ten First Team honoree Lloyd spent his time at first base or designated hitter when not closing games for the Hoosiers. A 2019 preseason All-American honoree by Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball, Lloyd is the Big Ten's active career leader in home runs (37, 21st nationally, T-7th in school history). Additionally, the senior finished with 19 career home runs in Big Ten games only, tied for third in school history with Alex Dickerson (2009-11).
On April 27, with Indiana trailing 6-4 to Minnesota in the bottom of the ninth with two runners on, two outs, and a full count, Lloyd hit a walk-off three-run home run to even the series. It eventually led to a series win with a decisive 7-1 win the following day. During the Penn State doubleheader win on April 6, Lloyd had five RBI in the two games, all-game winning RBI (three-run HR, two-run single). He also earned a save in each game. The senior was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on April 1 for his performance at Maryland. Lloyd hit .412 on the week (7-for-17) with five home runs, 11 RBI, two doubles and eight runs scored. That included seven RBI on March 31 vs. the Terps, tied for the most RBI in the Big Ten this year for a single game.
A Second Team All-American selection by Collegiate Baseball, Third Team All-American selection by the NCBWA, and an All-Big Ten First Team selection in 2018, Lloyd appeared and started in 59 games for the Hoosiers, including games played at first base, second base and designated hitter.
An ABCA Rawlings First Team All-Region selection in 2017 and second team All-Big Ten honoree, Lloyd finished tied for third in the conference in doubles (16), fifth in slugging percentage (.554), tied for seventh in home runs (11), tied for ninth in RBI (46), and tied for 13th in total bases (107).
Milto, who manned the Friday slot for the Hoosiers in 2019, came to Indiana as a first baseman, having only pitched five innings in his high school career, but made the adjustment and was pitching his freshman year as a Hoosier. Entering the NCAA Regional, he was the Big Ten's active career leader in wins (8th nationally) and strikeouts (37th) and was second in innings (29th). He posted has 24 career quality starts in 41 starts.
This past season he entered the NCAA Tournament second in the Big Ten in innings, strikeout-to-walk ratio (22nd nationally), and walks per nine innings (27th), was third in wins and fourth in strikeouts.
A Second Team All-Big Ten selection in 2018, he made 13 starts finishing with an 8-2 record and a 2.03 ERA in 79.2 IP, including two complete game shutouts. In 2017, he was a Third Team All-Big Ten selection and IU's Pitcher of the Year, leading the team with 78.0 innings and 56 strikeouts.
Bradley made 29 starts at first base this season and 41 starts overall. Following a 1-for-25 start to the season, Bradley went on a tear. From the Kent State game on March 27 to the start of the Michigan series, he went 31-for-91 (.341) with seven home runs, nine doubles, a triple and 19 RBI. A 2019 Second Team All-Big Ten selection, his breakout series came at Maryland, where he finished 7-for-13 (.538) and hit three home runs.
After receiving a medical redshirt in 2017, Bradley returned for his second season in 2018. The New Jersey native appeared in 47 games for the Hoosiers, making 40 starts total, primarily at first base, hitting .326 with seven home runs and 19 RBI to earn him Second Team All-Big Ten honors.
An All-Big Ten Freshman Team selection in 2016, Bradley appeared in 43 games, making 29 starts.
Barr, who also earned 2019 Second Team All-Big Ten honors, started all 60 games at third base this season for the Hoosiers. The sophomore tied Lloyd for first in the Big Ten in home runs (17, 30th nationally). He additionally entered the NCAA Tournament fourth in the Big Ten in RBI and slugging.
The Yorktown, Ind.-native put together a career-high 14-game reached base streak for the Hoosiers from Feb. 22 (at Tennessee) to March 16 (vs. Canisius). He appeared in 22 games his freshman season (missing a month due to injury), making nine starts at second (4) and third base (5), ending the season with a .318 batting average.
Dunham, a 2019 Third Team All-Big Ten honoree, opened the year as the team's starting left fielder. After missing 17 games with an injury, he returned in a pinch-hitting role on March 17 against Canisius. He started the following game at Indiana State on March 19 and returned to the lineup in a big way, as he hit a grand slam, the first home run of his career, to put the Hoosiers back in the lead over the Sycamores.
In the final week of the regular season vs. Louisville and Rutgers, he hit .556, going 10-for-18 with nine runs scored, three doubles, two RBI, three walks and a stolen base. A year prior, he spent the majority of his rookie year in the infield, as of his 18 starts, seven came at first base with the other 11 being at the designated hitter spot.
Bunnell appeared in 40 games in his career, making 10 starts for the Hoosiers. In the win over Purdue on April 10, he hit a walk-off single to give the Hoosiers a win.
