Major Renovations Underway at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – For the first time in 38 years, the playing surface at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium is undergoing major renovations.
The improvements to the playing surface at Armstrong Stadium include a completely new playing surface, an improved drainage system and new Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass. All the improvements for the project were made possible by a generous gift from Crider and Crider.
"This fall when we kick off at Jerry Yeagley Field, we will be competing on the finest playing surface in college soccer," Indiana head men's soccer coach Todd Yeagley said. "I would like to thank Jeremy Tredway for his leadership on this project, as well as the team from Crider and Crider for their generous gift."
Earlier this summer, the renovations to the playing surface began with removing the top three inches of the existing field. After that, a new drainage system was installed closer to the field's surface to vastly improve on the old system.
Yeagley Field was then capped with a two-inch sandcap and graded to have just short of a one-percent slope. These measures, along with the new drainage system, have helped to create as much of a "rain proof" field as possible.
After all the underground improvements, the field was sprigged with Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass, which is the latest bermudagrass to be released by Oklahoma State University. Armstrong Stadium will be one of the first sports fields in the nation to feature the Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass, which is uniquely designed to withstand the cold winters in the Midwest.
"Yeagley Field has seen very little in the way of renovation work since it was initially installed in 1981," Jeremy Tredway, IU's Sports Turf Manager remarked. "This is, safe to say, the most extensive work ever done to the field and we believe that it will now become one of the premier playing surfaces not only in the Midwest, but the country."
Single game and season tickets for the 2019 season are now on sale. Prices are $7 for adults, $5 for youth (ages 3-18) and $4 for groups of 25 or more. Family Packages are $40 and fans will receive four tickets and food vouchers to be exchanged at the Armstrong Stadium concession stand. Family Packages must be purchased in advance of game day.
Flex Package tickets will also be available again this season. Each flex package will include eight vouchers to be exchanged on game day at any home IU men's soccer match. Adult flex packages will be $48 and youth (ages 3-18) flex packages will be $32
