IUWS Lands Nine on Big Ten Distinguished Scholars List

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer saw nine be named 2018-19 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars on Tuesday, the most of any Big Ten Women's Soccer program.
Abby Allen, Caroline Dreher, Melanie Forbes, Allison Jorden, Bethany Kopel, Justine Lynn, Hanna Németh, Maya Piper and Meghan Scott all earned the accolade, which is given to student-athletes in at least their second year who have posted a 3.7 GPA or higher.
In addition, Forbes, Jorden, Kopel, Németh and Scott were recognized for posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.
As a whole, Indiana Athletics saw 67 student-athletes make the list.
"We are extremely proud of these 67 individuals, who have separated themselves with their excellence in the classroom," said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass. "The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award is the highest academic honor that the Big Ten Conference presents to individual student-athletes. To have our second-largest group of honorees ever this year is a credit to each as these individual students as well as our Academic Services and Excellence Academy staff for the tremendous work that they do."
