BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball has announced the addition of graduate student manager Michaela Schlattman to its staff. Schlattman comes to Indiana after graduating from LSU in May 2019.
"I am beyond excited for the opportunity that Coach Stanton and the staff has given me to be a part of such a great softball program and university," said Schlattman. "I am thankful I get to learn from such an amazing coaching staff, which will help with my future goals in coaching and teaching. I am ready to get on campus and start working with the team."
As the Tigers' starting catcher, Schlattman played in 56 games and collected 39 hits, 24 runs and 23 RBI during her senior season as LSU advanced to Super Regionals for the second straight year. Off the field, she was a member of the 2019 SEC Community Team and the 2018 SEC First Year Academic Roll.
Schlattman transferred to LSU prior to her junior season after spending two years at shortstop at Miami (Ohio). There, Schlattman earned 2017 Third Team NFCA All-Region honors, First Team All-MAC and to the MAC All-Tournament Team after leading the RedHawks to a MAC Tournament title.
"I appreciate the graduate manager position because it provides opportunities for high achieving student-athletes to stay in the game and give back to current student-athletes," said Indiana head coach Shonda Stanton. "Michaela had a high-level success at LSU and we are excited for the daily positive collisions that she will have with our players. She is a great fit with her enthusiasm, self-discipline and love for the sport to serve as an outstanding role model and to help us continue to elevate our program."
A native of Plainfield, Ill., Schlattman will be getting her Master's in Secondary Education while at Indiana.
