Bloomington, Ind. – IU Athletics recently welcomed students from around the world to Memorial Stadium for a hands-on look at Indiana University Football.
IU Athletics partnered with the Office of International Services (OIS) for the "College Football 101" event, which attracted approximately 250 international IU students to the IU Athletics campus to enjoy a "tailgate" inside the Henke Hall of Champions in the North End Zone facility. The students were treated to hot dogs and popcorn, a 2019 Indiana Football t-shirt, pom poms, foam fingers and Indiana Football posters.
In addition to the swag, participants were also introduced to the sport of American football via a series of interactive stations on the IU practice field. Students had an opportunity to test their skills at passing, kicking and tackling in a fun-filled atmosphere as they prepare for the start of their academic year and the start of the IU Football season.
"The students had a great time, and really jumped into the activities," said Rendy Schrader, International Student & Scholar Advising Director. "We even had a short pick-up game! It is both fun and gratifying to see international students being welcomed to the campus community and learning about US culture."
