BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team was tabbed as the Big Ten preseason favorites in a poll conducted of the league's coaches.
Along with being named the preseason favorite, IU's Spencer Glass, Simon Waever and Jack Maher were named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List.
Last season, the Hoosiers captured both the regular season and tournament Big Ten titles en route to a second-straight NCAA College Cup appearance. The returnees from 2018 will be joined this year by the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation according to Top Drawer Soccer.
IU reached the NCAA Tournament for the 32nd-straight season in 2018 and for a NCAA-record 43rd time in program history. The Hoosiers 20th College Cup appearance last year is also a NCAA record.
The 2019 season begins on Friday, Aug. 30 with the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic at Armstrong Stadium. UCLA faces Northwestern at 5:00 p.m. ET, while the No. 2 Hoosier will host Pittsburgh at 8:00 p.m. ET.
