BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana will host the No. 6/6 Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Memorial Stadium at noon EDT. The game will be televised on FOX. Head coach Tom Allen met with the media on Thursday. Below is a partial transcript:
Opening Statement…
"Good week. Guys worked really hard. Good focus. Obviously first conference game so everything gets intensified for what we're about to step into from the last two weeks. Feel like the guys have embraced that. We coach them until kickoff is our mindset here and it's our philosophy as a program. Thursday's practice is not a review practice for us. Even though we're not in shoulder pads, it's still a full speed practice. Tag tempo is what we use to be able to attack the ball carriers, but as far as the reps and everything we're doing, approach it that way, review tomorrow and kick it off at noon on game day. That's where we're at, ready to roll."
On QB Michael Penix Jr.'s availability….
"He's working through some things right now so we're not 100 percent sure. It's going to be a game-day decision. That's why you have multiple quarterbacks. If he can't go, then Peyton will be ready. I feel great about Peyton. He's won a lot of games for us here and he's a great player.
On if there would be a change offensively with Peyton Ramsey at quarterback…
"Not a lot. They're very similar quarterbacks skillset-wise, so not really much changes at all. That's the good part about it. We were just able to be who we are and run our offense. We'll be ready."
On LB Cam Jones…
"He's practiced full bore the last two days and I think he's looked really good. So, I expect him to play."
On the importance of the crowd on Saturday…
"Huge, I'm telling you. Having a great group here and I expect that. Just be loud when they're (OSU) on the field and energy when we're on the field and just being a great part of playing a football game. It's all phases. It takes all of us. We had one of our alumni out here today and just a guy I got a chance to meet him. I just told him, 'Hey, we need all you guys back as much as possible.' I invited him to come to practice, to come to games, get in the crowd, get the crowd going. It's big. We need every possible component to be working together, flowing together and helping us be special on game day. So yes, the crowd's going to be huge."
