LEXINGTON, Ky.– The Indiana volleyball team won back-to-back matches on day one of the Bluegrass Battle with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-23) win over Florida Gulf Coast and a 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-14, 26-24) win over Cleveland State.

Key Moments

In the opening match, against Florida Gulf Coast, sophomore Breana Edwards started the match with two aces.
Leading 7-5 in the second set, the Hoosiers used a 5-0 run to go up 12-5 on FGCU.
With Indiana up 22-17 in the third set, FGCU scored three straight to narrow the gap to two at 22-20. FGCU got within one at 24-23, but a kill by senior Kendall Beerman ended the match and gave Indiana the victory.
The Hoosiers won five of the last six points of the first set against Cleveland State to win it 25-16.
After CSU won the second set, 25-21, the Hoosiers opened the third set 8-1 and cruised to a 25-14 third set victory.
Indiana jumped out to a 5-2 lead in set four, but CSU responded with a 4-0 run to go up 6-5.
The Hoosiers went up 22-20 in set four, but CSU came right back to tie it 22-22.
At 24-24, Indiana got a kill from Megan Sloan and a CSU attack error to win the set, 26-24 and win the match.

Notables

The Hoosiers improved to 7-2 on the season.
The loss for Florida Gulf Coast, was their first loss of the season after getting off to a program best 6-0 start.
Senior Kendall Beerman registered 14 kills and hit .357 in the win over Florida Gulf Coast.
Victoria Brisack tallied three aces with no service errors against Florida Gulf Coast.
Deyshia Lofton recorded a career-high 19 kills against Cleveland State and hit .484 in the match. Lofton added a team-high six blocks.
Bayli Lebo led four Hoosiers in double-digit kills with 16.
Victoria Brisack notched a double-double with 28 assists and 10 digs.
The deciding fourth set against Cleveland State had 18 ties and eight lead changes.
