Hertenstein Earns First USTFCCCA Cross Country National Honor in Program History

NEW ORLEANS, La.— The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their weekly National Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon. For the first time in program history, sophomore Bailey Hertenstein was named the Division I Women's National Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 16.
Hertenstein ran in her first meet of her sophomore campaign last Saturday. At the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn., she earned her first win at a meet in her career. She was able to outkick her competitor by 0.5 seconds to capture gold with a time of 21:08.0. As team the Indiana women finished in third with 99 points.
USTFCCCA also released their regional rating index on Monday afternoon. The Hoosier men came in at No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region while the women checked in at No. 6.
