Game Notes: Indiana Heads to Michigan State

SETTING THE SCENE
• Hitting the road for the first time, Indiana (3-1, 0-1 B1G East) takes on No. 25/RV Michigan State (3-1, 1-0 B1G East) at Spartan Stadium (75,005; Natural Grass) on Saturday, Sept. 28. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. EDT on BTN.
• The Old Brass Spittoon has been awarded to the IU-MSU victor since its inception in 1950.
• With their 38-3 win over UConn, the Hoosiers have won 17 of their last 18 regular season non-conference games, including nine straight, and 12 of their last 13 at Memorial Stadium.
• Indiana's nine-consecutive victories mark the program's longest winning streak since 1909-15 (16 straight).
THE COACHES
• Tom Allen was named Indiana's head coach on Dec. 1, 2016, and made his debut at the 2016 Foster Farms Bowl against Utah. The New Castle, Ind., native joined IU as associate head coach/defense on Jan. 15, 2016. In Allen's two seasons as head coach, 21 Hoosiers have earned All-Big Ten honors and 15 have been drafted or invited to NFL camps.
• Michigan State's all-time winningest coach Mark Dantonio is 110-52 (.679) in his 13th season. Dantonio served as Cincinnati's head coach from 2004-06 and carries an overall record of 128-69 (.650).
NEWS & NOTES
• Indiana held Connecticut to three points, 145 total yards, 94 passing yards and 51 rushing yards.
• The three points were the fewest against an FBS opponent since IU shut out Rutgers on Nov. 18, 2017.
• The 51 rushing yards were the fewest since holding Illinois to 33 on Nov. 11, 2017.
• The 94 passing yards were the fewest since holding Michigan to 54 on Oct. 14, 2017.
• The 145 total yards were the fewest since holding Michigan State to 138 on Oct. 5, 1991.
• Sophomore Cam Jones recorded the first pick-6 of his career, a 44-yarder.
• The Hoosiers have recorded a takeaway in 21 of their last 22 games and an INT in 12 of 14 games.
• IU sits second in the Big Ten in passing offense (308.5, 20th nationally), fourth in third-down conversions (49.1, 23rd) and sixth in total offense (429.0).
• Redshirt sophomore tight end Peyton Hendershot leads the team with 18 receptions (T-5th in Big Ten), 234 yards (9th) and three touchdowns (T-3rd).
• Among tight ends nationally, he shares fourth in catches, is fifth in yardage and shares fifth in scores.
• Redshirt junior Peyton Ramsey finished 23-of-27 for 247 yards and three TDs, his fourth-career game with three passing scores, vs. UConn. His completion percentage of 85.2 is third on the program's single-game list.
• Ramsey owns the first, third and fourth single-game completion percentage marks.
• Offensive lineman Matthew Bedford became the 10th true freshman to play in 2019 last weekend.
