OFFENSE
• Redshirt freshman Michael Penix Jr. returned to action for the first time since week two and finished 33-of-42 (78.6 percent) for 286 yards with a career-best three passing touchdowns and one rushing TD, the first of his career, in his first-career road start.
• Penix completed a school-record 20-straight passes. The streak is the second-longest in Big Ten history behind Chuck Long's 22-straight in 1984.
• His 33 completions were a career-high and share seventh on the program's single-game list.
• Junior Whop Philyor posted his third-career 100-yard receiving game and his third-career double-digit receptions contest with 142 yards on 14 catches and a career-high two touchdowns.
• His 14 receptions set a career-high and are tied for the third-most in a single game by a Hoosier. It's the most receptions in a game for an Indiana receiver since Tandon Doss pulled in 15 in 2010.
• Philyor is the lone IU receiver with multi-games with 10 catches and has reached 100 and 10 twice against Michigan State in his career.
• Fifth-year senior Donavan Hale brought in seven catches for 99 yards, including a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
• Sophomore Stevie Scott III rushed 18 times for 66 yards. He posted a season-high 19-yard run in the first quarter.
• Scott hauled in a career-high four passes for a career-high-tying 28 yards.
• Indiana's 286 passing yards, 356 total yards and 31 points were season-highs surrendered by Michigan State's defense.
• Fifth-year senior right guard Simon Stepaniak made the 25th start of his career.
• True freshman offensive tackle Matthew Bedford made the first start of his career.
DEFENSE
• Sophomore linebacker Micah McFadden had a career-best two tackles for loss.
• McFadden, fifth-year senior linebacker Reakwon Jones and sophomore defensive tackle Demarcus Elliott led the team with five tackles each.
• True freshman cornerback Tiawan Mullen (4) and redshirt sophomore safety Bryant Fitzgerald (2) each finished with career-highs in pass breakups.
• Sophomore defensive end James Head Jr. and redshirt junior husky Marcelino Ball each posted career-highs in quarterback hurries with two apiece.
• Indiana finished with a season-high seven PBUs and six quarterback hurries.
• Ball made the 30th start of his career.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Indiana's career field goal percentage leader Logan Justus continued his perfect season with a 26-yard field goal, his seventh of the year, in the third quarter. He connected on all four extra points, bringing his total to 18 this year.
• Justus is now 22-of-25 on field goals (88.0 percent) and 50-of-51 on PATs (98.0 percent). His 22 field goals share 10th on the program's career list.
• Fifth-year senior punter Haydon Whitehead averaged 45.8 yards on five punts with a long of 65, a career-high.
• True freshman David Ellis went over 100 kick return yards for the third time with 103 yards on five returns.
TEAM
• Senior left tackle Coy Cronk (injured), fifth-year senior linebacker Reakwon Jones, fifth-year senior right guard Simon Stepaniak and fifth-year senior wide receiver Nick Westbrook served as game captains. The four are the team's season captains.
• Michigan State won the coin toss and elected to receive.
