Postgame Notes
- The Hoosiers improved to 13-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Big Ten as they beat the visiting #11/12 Ohio State Buckeyes, 66-54, on Saturday. Indiana now leads the all-time series 108-85.
- Sophomore guard Rob Phinisee got his first start of the season and hit the game's first shot with a 3-pointer on the Hoosier's first possession. Phinisee started 3-of-3 from behind the arc in the first 3:20 of the game.
- After a redshirt freshman forward Jerome Hunter missed free throw, senior guard Devonte Green got the offensive rebound and a put back to put the Hoosiers up 25-16 at the 9:57 mark of the first half.
- After trailing at halftime, 34-31, the Hoosiers opened up the second half on an 8-0 run, capped off by a redshirt junior Joey Brunk jumper at the 16:13 mark that triggered a Buckeye timeout.
- Indiana went on a 10-0 run after falling behind, 45-43, at the 10:24 point of the second half. Green made two free throws at the 7:57 mark to finish the run and take a 53-45 lead.
- The Hoosiers ended the game on a 9-4 run and scored the last four points, which was capped off by a Green two-handed dunk with 10 seconds remaining. Green's dunk put the Hoosiers up by 12, which was their largest lead of the game.
- Thirty-one of Indiana's 66 points came off of the bench in the victory on Saturday and the Hoosier defense forced 11 steals, while only having had the ball stolen three times.
- This was the sixth game in the Archie Miller era that the Hoosiers have beaten a ranked team and the fourth time that Indiana has beaten a ranked team at home during Miller's time at Indiana. IU is 2-1 against ranked teams this season and 2-0 against ranked teams at home.
- The Hoosiers came into the game leading the nation in free throws attempted (26.5) per game and second in the nation in free throws (18.8) made per game. The Hoosiers surpassed both marks by making 20-of-36 (55.6 percent) against the Buckeyes.
- Indiana finished with two scorers in double figures, Green (19) and Phinisee (13).
- Green led all scorers with 19 points and added five boards for Indiana in 29 minutes.
- Phinisee finished with 13 points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc, seven rebounds and one assist in 29 minutes of action.
- Brunk finished the game with seven points and also grabbed five rebounds.
- Freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis tallied six points for the Hoosiers and also grabbed three rebounds.
- Junior forward Justin Smith finished with six points and two rebounds, while dishing out a team-high three assists.
- Redshirt freshman Jerome Hunter scored five points, grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist.
- Junior guard Aljami Durham scored three points and grabbed three rebounds for Indiana.
- Sophomore forward Race Thompson hit a 3-pointer for Indiana and grabbed two rebounds in five minutes.
- Senior forward De'Ron Davis scored two points and grabbed three rebounds for the Hoosiers.
- Freshman forward Armaan Franklin scored two points for Indiana.
- The Hoosiers will go on the road for their next two games against Rutgers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 and again at Nebraska at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.
