IUTF Splits Dual Meet with Tennessee on Saturday Afternoon

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field kicked off the new year by hosting the Indiana vs. Tennessee Duals. The men's squad picked up a 64-58 victory over the Volunteers while the women fell, 71-51. This is the fifth-straight year where the men have defeated Tennessee.
Mallory Mulzer, Adam Coulon, and Khayla Dawson lead the nation in their respective events after competeing in Satuday's meet. Mulzer won the 800m with a time of 2:10.91. Coulon set a new personal best in the pole vault after clearing a mark of 5.55m (18' 2.5"). Khayla Dawson won her second meet of the season in the shot put after throwing a meet record distance of 17.07m (56' 0).
The Hoosiers also picked up 10 victories in other events on Saturday afternoon. On the track, Rikkoi Brathwaite picked up the first the win for Indiana as he won the 60m with a time of 6.70. The men's 4x400-meter relay squad consisting of Shaton Vaughn, Zubin Muncherji, Wallace, and Jalen Royal were able to fend off the Volunteers and grab a time of 3:14.47 to win the event.
Nick Lane captured the first victory in the field for Indiana as he nabbed a personal best mark of 21.25m (69' 8.75"). Hope Purcell cleared a height of 1.70m (5' 7") to win the high jump. Jenna Jungels jumped to a mark of 6.10m (20' .25") to grab the victory in the long jump.
Four Hoosiers also set new personal bests at the duals. Nathan Stone picked up second in the pole vault after clearing a height of 5.12m (16' 9.5"). Vaughn secured two new PRs as he clocked a time of 8.21 in the 60m hurdles before crossing in a time of 48.11 in the 400m. He took runner-up in both events. Aaron Bennett raced to third in the mile where he notched a time of 4:15.30. Lauren Seaver rounded the field of personal bests with a height of 3.65m (11' 11.75").
As a team, the Hoosiers swept the top-2 spots in six events. Indiana saw high marks in the women's shot put, men's pole vault, women's 800m, men's and women's mile, and the men's 3000m.
Up next, the Hoosiers will face their first road test when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 17 and 18.
