BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Indiana head coach Steve Aird has announced the addition of transfer setter Brooke Westbeld to the IU volleyball program. Westbeld, a fifth-year senior, spent the last four years at Dayton.
"We are excited to add Brooke to our 2020 roster," Aird said. "She was a top recruit out of high school and has received All-American recognition at the collegiate level. Having played well and been part of a very good collegiate program, she knows what it takes. Brooke has tremendous leadership qualities and experience to pull from and we feel it is a great fit for our program."
In 2018, Westbeld was an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention selection and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and A-10 All-Tournament Team. She posted 19 double-doubles on the season, including five triple-doubles, which ranked second in the NCAA.
"Thank you, Indiana volleyball, for welcoming me into your family," Westbeld said. "I'm so excited to be a Hoosier and couldn't think of a better place to finish my last year of school and collegiate volleyball. IU is such an incredible university with incredible people and I am so grateful to now call it home."
Westbeld, a native of Kettering, Ohio, was named to the 2018-19 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the University of Dayton Dean's list for the Spring of 2019.
Westbeld had a stellar prep career at Fairmount High School and was ranked No. 23 on PrepVolleyball.Com's Senior Aces.
Westbeld is the Fairmount career record holder in assists (1,231) and kills (944). Following her senior season, Westbeld was named the Greater Western Ohio Conference Player of the Year, the District Player of the Year and to the All-Ohio Third Team.
