Brenna Wise Named Candidate for Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Indiana Women's Basketball senior forward Brenna Wise has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, announced on Friday afternoon.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The Pittsburgh, Pa. native is a two-year team captain and has started every game for Indiana in that time span as she is averaging 9.6 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game this season. In her career, Wise has scored over 1,300 career points and 750 rebounds and was a 2018-19 All-Big Ten honorable mention selection. A double major in marketing and professional sales in IU's Kelley School of Business, Wise excels in the classroom with a 3.89 GPA and has been named an Academic All-Big Ten selection and a 2019 CoSIDA Academic All District.
In her community, Wise was award the 2019 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award and is a member of the executive board for Indiana's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She volunteered her time with countless organizations including Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers, Emerging Leaders, Hoosier HEROES, Hoosier Readers, IU Best Buddies, Camp Riley, Hoosier Outrun Cancer, Candy Stripe Crew event for disabled and handicapped adult and children, Slam Dunk for Literacy, Habitat for Humanity.
Sixty NCAA® men's and women's basketball student-athletes who excel both on and off the court were selected as candidates today for the 2019-20 Senior CLASS Award®. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
The men's and women's candidates will be narrowed to two fields of 10 finalists in February, and those names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2020 NCAA Men's Final Four® and NCAA Women's Final Four® this spring. For more information on each of the candidates, visit seniorCLASSaward.com.
