BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Indiana volleyball assistant coach Krista Vansant has been selected to serve as an assistant coach for the U.S. Women's Junior National Team as announced by USA Volleyball.
In the summer of 2019, Vansant coached with the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team on their Japan Tour.
The team will compete at the 2020 NORCECA Women's U20 Continental Championship May 10-17 in Edmonton, Canada. The head coach of the team will be University of Pittsburgh head coach Dan Fisher. UCLA associate head coach Brad Keller and UCF director of operations TJ Reed will also be on the staff.
"I am very grateful and excited to join the WJNT staff and to represent USA and Indiana Volleyball this summer," Vansant said. "Coaching on one of the USA Volleyball sidelines will allow me to learn from some of the best coaches in the game as well as work with some of the best junior volleyball players in the United States."

The 2020 NORCECA Women's U20 Continental Championship is a qualification event into the 2021 FIVB Women's U20 World Championship. Athletes from the U.S. Girls Youth National Team won the 2019 FIVB Girls' U18 World Championship and are matriculated up to the WJNT program.
"I know that Krista is excited to continue working with the National Team program," IU head coach Steve Aird said. "She is a fantastic role model for our athletes at IU and the players she will coach this summer. The event and the level of competition will be exceptional. The have assembled a great staff and I know they will do a really good job preparing the team. It is always an honor to represent your country and we wish them all the best."
USA Volleyball will also hold a U.S. Women's Junior National Team Training (WJNTT) Camp July 4-10 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. A total of 20 athletes will be selected for this training camp. Fisher, Vansant and Keller will be the coaching staff for this group.
Vansant, who played for the U.S. Women's National Team in 2015 before transitioning to the coaching world, is grateful for the opportunity to work for the WJNT program.
"As a player, I felt that training and competing at the international level was imperative to my growth and I am eager to share some of the lessons that I learned with the athletes that make the WJNT tournament and training rosters," Vansant added. "With it being an Olympic year, it is exciting to be a part the USA Volleyball program and to help develop some of the nation's best at their age group. I want to thank USA Volleyball and Indiana University for granting me this opportunity and I am really looking forward to it."
