Postgame Notes
- The Hoosiers improved to 12-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Big Ten as they beat the visiting Northwestern Wildcats 66-62.
- Junior guard Aljami Durham (5) and freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis (7) combined to score all of the Hoosiers' first 12 points over the first 4:26 of the first half.
- Indiana went on a 15-4 run in the first half that was capped off by a Jackson-Davis lob dunk from Durham to give the Hoosiers a 27-17 lead at the 8:59 mark.
- After trailing 50-40, the Hoosiers went on a 10-0 run to tie the game up in the second half at 50 with 7:38 remaining. Indiana's defense held Northwestern scoreless over a 6:32 timeframe during the run.
- Northwestern retook the lead on a 9-4 run, 59-54, but the Hoosiers responded with a 9-0 run to take a 63-59 lead at the 1:24 point of the second half. The Hoosiers ended the game with a 12-4 run in total.
- Down 59-54 with 2:52 remaining in the game, junior forward Justin Smith started the Hoosier comeback with two consecutive layups. The second layup resulted in an and-one that tied the game up at 59 with 2:19 remaining.
- After a missed jumper by Miller Kopp for the Wildcats, Jackson-Davis was fouled on the other end for Indiana and Jackson-Davis put the Hoosiers ahead 61-59 with two free throws with 1:57 remaining. This was Indiana's first lead since the 1:20 mark of the first half.
- After a missed Northwestern 3-pointer, Jackson-Davis put down an alley-oop from sophomore guard Rob Phinisee that extended the Hoosier lead to 63-59 with 1:24 remaining.
- Northwestern cut the lead to three on their next possession with an A.J. Turner free throw but Jackson-Davis made a free throw on the other end to make the score 64-60.
- Ryan Young made a layup with under two seconds remaining to cut the Wildcat deficit to 64-62.
- Two free throws with 1.1 seconds left in the game by Durham made it a two-possession game and sealed the win for the Hoosiers.
- The Hoosiers outrebounded Northwestern 40-29, including 15-5 on the offensive glass.
- Indiana came into the game leading the nation in free throws attempted (26.5) per game and fourth in free throws made (18.2). The Hoosiers went 23-of-30 against Northwestern. Conversely, Northwestern shot 8-of-10.
- The Hoosiers had three players score in double figures, Jackson-Davis (21), Smith (18) and Durham (16).
- Jackson-Davis finished with a game-high 21 points and also added seven rebounds and two blocks for Indiana.
- Smith scored 18 points for the Hoosiers and grabbed six rebounds, while recording three steals.
- Durham scored 16 points, while making 11-of-12 free throws and dished out a team-high four assists.
- Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk scored five points for the Hoosiers while having his fourth-straight double-digit rebound game with 12. He is averaging 11.8 boards over that four-game span.
- Redshirt freshman forward Jerome Hunter hit a 3-pointer for the Hoosiers and grabbed a rebound in nine minutes.
- Freshman guard Armaan Franklin tallied two points, grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist for Indiana.
- Senior guard Devonte Green scored one point for the Hoosiers and grabbed six rebounds.
- Phinisee grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists for Indiana.
- Redshirt sophomore Race Thompson grabbed two rebounds in seven minutes.
- Senior forward De'Ron Davis grabbed a rebound in three minutes of action.
- Sophomore forward Damezi Anderson saw two minutes of action.
- The Hoosiers come back to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall at Noon on Saturday, Dec. 11 when the Ohio State Buckeyes come to town.
