
Indiana Track & Field Mourns The Loss Of Ronald Jones

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana track & field program is saddened by the death of former Indiana All-American high jumper Ronald Jones. Jones was 58-years-old and resided in Evansville, Ind.
In the Hoosiers record book, Jones holds two all-time top-10 marks in the high jump. At the Drake Relays in 1981, he captured the fifth-best mark in school history after clearing a height of 2.19m (7' 2.25") in the outdoor high jump. Jones then went on to capture the second-best indoor with a mark of 2.25m (7' 4.5") in 1984.
At the 1984 NCAA Indoor Track & Championships, he catapulted to a second-place finish and All-America status in the high jump when he cleared a height of 2.24m (7' 4.25").
Jones was a two-time Big Ten Indoor champion. He cleared a mark of 2.20m (7' 2.75") in 1982 to take home the individual title and was then crowned champion again in 1984 with a height of 2.24m (7' 4.25").
He was awarded All-Big Ten First Team honors twice and was a four-year letter winner at Indiana.
