Indiana To Face Providence At Maui Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana will take on Providence in the first round of the 37th Annual Maui Invitational which will be held this year in Asheville, N.C. at the Harrah's Cherokee Center. The event will take place from November 30 thru December 2. The Hoosiers and Friars will tip-off at 2:30 p.m., November 30.
They are paired up in the bracket to face either Texas or Davidson on the second day of the event. On the other side, North Carolina will battle UNLV and Stanford plays Alabama. The championship game is slated for 4 p.m. on December 2.
This will be the first meeting between IU and Providence since they met in the consolation game of the 1973 Final Four. The Hoosiers won that matchup in St. Louis, 97-79.
IU is making its seventh appearance (1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2008, 2015) in the event and captured the championship in 2002. The field features a collection of programs that boasts a combined 214 NCAA Tournament appearances, 39 Final Four berths and 13 national championships.
