BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's golf has announced its newest class of signees on Wednesday, featuring Lydia Cryer and Áine Donegan, who originally signed last year but reclassified to join the Hoosiers next fall.
"We are very excited to welcome both Áine and Lydia to the Hoosier Golf family," said head coach Clint Wallman. "Áine has had the unique opportunity to refine her world class game this year due to the pandemic and I am looking for her to jump right in and make an immediate impact to the program. Lydia will bring a huge game to IU as a freshman. Her high-level international experience will be a big plus as she transitions into college. I am expecting both Áine and Lydia to bring some depth and firepower to our lineup."
Donegan, a native of Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, currently ranks No. 153 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings with six top-10 finishes.
Donegan has represented her home country on an international stage many times, including at the 2018 European Young Masters, the Fairhaven Trophy and the 2019 Spirit International. She was a member of the 2018-19 Ireland Girls European Championship Team, as well as the Ireland Girls Home International Team. Donegan helped led the team to a first-place finish at the Lahinch Golf Club All-Ireland Senior Cup and a Silver Medalist finish at the 2019 Lahinch Golf Club European event.
Donegan's individual accolades include titles in the Seapoint Scratch Cup, 2019 Carlow Scratch Cup, the 2019 Lahinch Vaughan Scratch Cup and the 2018 Munster Girls event. In addition, she was the runner-up at the 2019 Munster Woman Championship.
Her parents are Greg Donegan and Ann Gillan and she has one brother, Aaron, and a sister, Seóna.

Cryer, a native of Burnley, England, ranked No. 1 in the Independent Schools Golf Association in 2019-20. In addition, she ranked third in the Birkdale Putter Combined Event in 2019 and ninth in the 2019 English Girls U16 Open. Competing with members of her country against Ireland and Switzerland in an international match, she won 4.5 matches out of five to help England to victory.
The daughter of Sally and Dave Cryer, she was also tabbed as the 2019-20 Sportswoman of the Year at Unity College. Cryer also competed in rugby, rounders and skiing at Unity.
"I am excited to become a Hoosier because I've always wanted to go to college in America and as soon as I looked at IU I knew that it was exactly what I was looking for," said Cryer. "There was no doubt in my mind that it was where I was supposed to be. I can't wait to join the Hoosier family next year!"
