Tommi Stockham Q&A
What's your favorite way to spend a day off?
My favorite thing to do is nature walk or hike with a few friends. I think it's such a great way to still be active but also not pushing yourself super hard.
What surprised you the most about being a student-athlete at IU?
What surprised me the most about being a student athlete at IU is how well they take care of us. I feel like I'm always taken care of and they do so much for us.
If you weren't playing volleyball at IU, what sport would you play?
I would definitely be an equestrian. Riding horses was my first and only sport I did growing up.
Who is one of your role models and why?
One of my role models is my grandpa, who I am named after. He was the prime example of a leader of his team but was one of the most competitive people there is. (Tommi's late grandfather Tom Wiesner is in the University of Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame for football, boxing and philanthropy)

Do you have any prematch rituals?
I hate all types of soda, but before every match I like to have a diet mountain dew which sounds strange but it has been a superstition of mine ever since I was younger. I also like to take time by myself to slow myself down and get myself mentally ready to play.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you win a gold medal at?
Throwing food into your mouth and catching it. Not sure why but I've always been good at that.
Outside of volleyball, what's something you're passionate about and why?
I'm super passionate about having a good relationship with my family and meeting new people.
Why did you choose to attend IU?
The moment I met the coaching staff I knew that those were my people and I couldn't go anywhere else. Also, the campus itself is breathtaking and it is such an amazing opportunity to be a Hoosier.
