TEAM
• No. 12 Indiana (5-1, 5-1 Big Ten) defeated Maryland (2-2, 2-2 Big Ten), 27-11, at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind.
• The Hoosiers 5-1 record is their best overall start since 2007 and their best conference start since 1987 (5-1).
• IU is 13-6 overall and 10-5 in league play since the start of the 2019 campaign.
• Indiana clinched a winning Big Ten record in consecutive seasons for first time since 1987-88 and for the sixth time overall (1967-68, 1944-46 and 1936-37).
• The Hoosiers five B1G victories are tied for the third-most in school history (2019, 1993, 1991, 1988, 1979, 1945) behind six-win campaigns in 1967 (6-1) and 1987 (6-2).
DEFENSE
• The Hoosiers secured three more takeaways in the game and now have recorded a takeaway in 35 of the last 37 games.
• IU has created 18 takeaways through six games in the 2020 season and have scored 58 points off of the turnovers. Indiana scored seven points on three interceptions against Maryland.
• The defense has reeled off eighth-straight games with at least two takeaways.
• Indiana has 16 total INTs this year to lead the FBS. The Hoosiers have picked off at least two passes in seven-straight games and are the first team since Oklahoma State in 2011 with at least two interceptions in six-consecutive games in the same season.
• IU has tallied at least one INT in nine-straight games dating back to the 2019 season.
• The defense had three interceptions for the third-straight game and the fourth time this season, the longest streak in the Big Ten since Wisconsin did the same in 2016. Indiana has not had a three-game stretch with at least three picks dating back to 1996.
• Junior linebacker D.K. Bonhomme came up with a safety after tackling Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa in the end zone, giving the Hoosiers their first safety since Allen Stallings IV recorded a sack for a safety against Maryland on Oct. 28, 2017. Bonhomme finished with four tackles and one TFL.
• Junior linebacker Micah McFadden added his second interception of the season and fourth of his career in the fourth quarter. On the game, McFadden totaled three tackles, one sack, one TFL, the interception and one quarterback hurry.
• Fifth-year defensive tackle Jerome Johnson had a sack for the Hoosiers, his fourth of the year, all coming in the last three games. Johnson has 13.5 for his career.
• Junior cornerback Jaylin Williams had one tackle and one interception. The pick was his fourth of the season and the sixth of his career.
• Junior linebacker Cam Jones finished with a team-high six tackles to go with a pair of quarterback hurries.
• Redshirt junior defensive lineman Johnathan King had two tackles, including a sack and a TFL. The sack was the first of his career.
• Sophomore cornerback Tiawan Mullen had four tackles and an interception. The pick was his third of the season and his career, all coming in the last three weeks.
• Senior defensive lineman Michael Ziemba finished with one tackle, one TFL and one quarterback hurry.
• Junior safety Jamar Johnson had five tackles on the day.
• Redshirt junior defensive back Bryant Fitzgerald had two tackles in his 15th career start.
OFFENSE
• The Indiana offense churned out 234 yards rushing, a season-best effort.
• Junior running back Stevie Scott III rushed 24 times for 80 yards and three touchdowns, his first career game with three rushing TDs. His 28 total scores share fourth in school history with Tevin Coleman.
• Scott has scored at least one touchdown in 16 of his last 22 games and has 26 total TDs in that span. Saturday marked his eighth career multi-score game.
• The Syracuse, N.Y., native is the first Hoosier with three rushing touchdowns since Jordan Howard did so against Southern Illinois on Sept. 5, 2015.
• True freshman running back Tim Baldwin Jr. carried the ball 16 times for a game-high 106 yards, both career-best efforts. He became the 14th true freshman to hit the century mark on the ground.
• Senior wide receivers Ty Fryfogle and Whop Philyor each made their 20th career starts. Fryfogle had two receptions for 10 yards, while Philyor contributed a pair of catches for 24 yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Redshirt sophomore kicker Charles Campbell drilled his lone field goal attempt, a 33-yarder, to improve to 8-of-9 on the season. He has converted 10-of-11 career field goal attempts.
• The Jackson, Tenn., native also made his only PAT attempt, making him 21-of-21 on the season and 22-of-22 in his career on point after tries.
• Graduate student punter Haydon Whitehead notched 318 yards on seven punts (45.4 yards per punt) with a long of 53 yards. He hit two punts more than 50 yards.
• Sophomore long snapper Sean Wracher has snapped in all 19 career games played at Indiana.
