BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana junior running back Stevie Scott III was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career, the conference announced on Monday morning. Scott, who also has two B1G Freshman of the Week honors to his credit, is the third Hoosier in as many weeks to earn the accolade following senior wide receiver Ty Fryfogle's back-to-back laurels.
This is the fifth time in sixth weeks an IU standout has been recognized by the league: junior safety Jamar Johnson (Penn State), redshirt sophomore kicker Charles Campbell (Rutgers) and Fryfogle (Michigan State, Ohio State).
Scott recorded a career-high three rushing touchdowns and 80 yards in Indiana's 27-11 win over Maryland on Saturday. He became the first Hoosier with three rushing scores since Jordan Howard (Sept. 5, 2015).
The Syracuse, N.Y., native moved into a share of fourth in program history with 28 rushing TDs (Tevin Coleman, 2012-14) and a share of fifth (Jade Butcher, 1967-69) with 30 total touchdowns. Scott also sits 10 all-time with 2,387 rushing yards.
In 2020, he sits fourth in the Big Ten with 405 rushing yards, and second with 119 attempts and eight rushing and total scores.
Up next, Scott and the No. 10/11 Hoosiers (5-1) travel north to face No. 18/19 Wisconsin on Saturday, Dec. 5. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. EDT kick and will be televised on ABC.
