• Indiana improves to 2-0 on the season with a 79-58 victory over Providence in the quarterfinal round of the 2020 Camping Word Maui Invitational. The win gives the Hoosiers a 5-2 record in the opening round of the event in the program's seventh appearance.
• IU is now 2-0 all-time against Providence after also taking down the Friars in the 1973 National Third Place Game by a score of 97-79.
• The win sets up the program's third ever matchup with the Texas Longhorns at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow (Dec. 1) on ESPN. The two teams last met in a 77-71 Hoosier victory on Nov. 24, 2001 in Anchorage, Alaska.
• After conceding the first bucket of the contest, the Hoosiers scored the game's next nine points triggered by an offensive rebound and put back from redshirt junior Race Thompson. Indiana did not trail for the remainder of the game.
• For the second time in as many games, Indiana led at the half. The Hoosiers held a 37-24 lead at the break. IU is 42-11 under head coach Archie Miller when leading at halftime.
• Thompson finished the game with a career-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor and 6-of-10 from the line. The 6-8 forward secured his first-career double-double with 12 rebounds (eight offensive), a career best. He added two assists and one block in 35 minutes.
• The Plymouth, Minn., native notched his third-career double-digit scoring effort in his second-career start, the first since scoring 10 points against Iowa on Feb. 13, 2020.
• Senior Aljami Durham paced the backcourt with a season-best 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 3-of-5 from behind the arc. He added six boards and three assists without committing a turnover in 30 minutes of run.
• Sophomore Trayce Jackson-Davis gave the Hoosiers 12 points and seven rebounds. The former Indiana Mr. Basketball has tallied double figures in five of his last six games dating back to the 2019-20 season.
• Junior Rob Phinisee gave the Hoosiers four double-figures with 11 points (4-of-5 shooting). He also charted a game-high five assists without coughing up a turnover in 28 minutes.
• Sophomore Armaan Franklin registered eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 28 minutes.
• Freshman Trey Galloway scored four points, grabbed three rebounds and three steals to go along with a pair of assists in 24 minutes.
• Freshman Jordan Geronimo scored three points and had two rebounds in seven minutes off the bench for Indiana.
• Freshman Khristian Lander grabbed one rebound, handed out an assist and added one steal in nine minutes off the bench.
• Sophomore Jerome Hunter battled foul trouble throughout the game and finished with a pair of rebounds in eight minutes of action.
• IU carried a massive advantage in points scored off turnovers, turning 13 Providence turnovers into 17 points. The Friars only managed three points off nine Hoosier turnovers.
• The Hoosiers have turned the ball over fewer than 10 times in both games this season, averaging 8.5 turnovers per game.
• Indiana outrebounded Providence by a tally of 42-33, including a 15-11 edge on the offensive glass. IU scored 17 second chance points.
