BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– The Big Ten conference announced the 2021 wrestling schedule on Thursday. The Indiana schedule will feature four dual meets, a tri meet and a quad meet.
The Hoosiers will open with a dual against Illinois at home Sunday Jan. 10. The following weekend Indiana will travel to Michigan for a dual on Jan. 17.
Up next on Saturday Jan. 30 the Hoosiers have a tri meet with Northwestern and Penn State, hosted by Northwestern.
Indiana will host a quad with Michigan State, Nebraska and Rutgers on Feb. 6.
The Hoosiers will close the regular season with a home dual against Maryland on Feb. 14 and a dual at Purdue on Feb. 21.
The Big Ten Championships are March 6-7 at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania. The NCAA Wrestling Championships are March 18-20 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
"After a long break, we are all excited to compete once again," IU head coach Angel Escobedo said. "Our schedule is loaded with opportunities to showcase how much this program has grown since last season. It's time for this team to do what they love and we are excited for the opportunity to compete in the best conference in the country."
Consistent with IU Athletics' ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, coaches, staff, spectators and the local community, wrestling matches at Wilkinson Hall - will be played without fans indefinitely. IU Athletics' decision is in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is consistent with what has transpired on all Big Ten campuses.
Attendance at 2020-21 Big Ten Wrestling matches will be limited to the immediate family of student-athletes, coaching staff, wrestling personnel and members of the team traveling parties.
Times and television information for some matches are still to be determined.
