BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie continued his tour of all of IU's 24 athletic programs Sunday, visiting Wilkinson Hall for the IU wrestling match vs. Nebraska.
McRobbie and First Lady Laurie Burns McRobbie visited with IU head coach Angel Escobedo and the team before the match and supported the Hoosiers throughout the match.
McRobbie's Bicentennial tour of IU's athletic programs launched Sept. 29 at the IU Field Hockey complex, and will continue throughout the 2019-20 Bicentennial year. This marks the second time that Indiana University's first couple will attend at least one home event for each of IU's athletic programs, having done so during the 2012-13 year as well.
The McRobbies have been regular attendees and supporters at Hoosier sporting events since he was introduced as IU's 18 president in 2007. He has also been a part of an era at Indiana University that has witnessed a transformation of IU's athletic facilities, including the construction of the North End Zone Student-Athlete Development Center, the D. Ames Shuel Academic Center, Bart Kaufman Field, the Andy Mohr Softball Field, Cook Hall, the renovated Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, the enclosure of the South End Zone at Memorial Stadium, which is home to the Excellence Academy, Wilkinson Hall, The Pfau Course at Indiana University, and the soon to be completed renovations at Armstrong Stadium.
