
Morrison Tabbed for Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Big Ten Conference announced their weekly indoor track & field athletes of the week on Wednesday afternoon. For the fifth time this season, Indiana Track & Field saw a Hoosier make the list as Willie Morrison picked up his first field athlete of the week honor of the season.
At the Meyo Invitational this weekend, Morrison heaved a sixth-best in the NCAA mark of 20.21m (66' 3.75") to finish as the top-collegiate in the shot put. He now owns the indoor and outdoor program record and his mark is also the new Philippines indoor national record.
In December the Leavenworth, Kan. native traveled to the Philippines to compete in the SEA Games. There he set the meet record with a throw of 18.38m (60' 8.75") in the shot put on his way to taking gold. Morrison also competed in the discus where he saw a mark of 51.38m (168' 7") and finished in second.
Morrison and the rest of the Indiana squad will be back in action across the country on Feb. 14 and 15. The Hoosiers will compete at the Iowa State Classic, Tyson Invite, Dave Hemery Valentine Invite while also hosting the one-day Hoosier Hills meet on Feb. 14.
