Indiana Men’s Soccer Announces Spring Slate
2/13/2020 9:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University head men's soccer coach Todd Yeagley announced the program's 2020 spring schedule on Thursday morning.
"We are excited to get back on the field and kick off our spring schedule next week," Yeagley said. "The spring is a great time to develop both individually and collectively. Our young team continues to make positive strides with the work on the field and with our sports performance staff. Having the ability to experiment with different positions as well as provide important minutes to our developing players will pay dividends this fall and in the future."
The first three matches of the six-game slate will be played at Grand Park in Westfield, with two coming at the indoor complex.
The Hoosiers will open the 2020 spring schedule with a matchup against Loyola Chicago at 2 p.m. on Feb. 22 at Grand Park. The Ramblers enter the 2020 season as reigning Missouri Valley Conference tournament champions. Loyola was defeated in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament by Kentucky.
In the first of two indoor matches held at Grand Park, the Hoosiers will take on Indy Eleven out of the United Soccer League (USL). First kick is set for 8 p.m. on Feb. 29. Less than a week later, at 7 p.m. on March 6, Indiana will square off with the Butler Bulldogs. Much like the Ramblers, Butler made the NCAA Tournament last season before being eliminated in the first round by West Virginia.
The program will host an alumni game on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium at 7 p.m. on March 27.
The lone spring game coming outside the state of Indiana will take place on April 4. The Hoosiers will travel west to St. Louis to take on the Saint Louis Billikens. First kick is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Worldwide Technology Soccer Park.
Finally, Indiana will face Notre Dame in the 2020 College Showcase Crossroads of America. The match will kick off at 8 p.m. on April 17 at Grand Park. The Fighting Irish saw the 2019 season end with a loss to Wright State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
