Postgame Notes
- The Hoosiers returned to Simon Skjodt Assmebly Hall on Thursday and beat the visiting No. 21/17Iowa Hawkeyes, 89-77. The win helped IU improve to 16-8 on the season and 6-7 in the Big Ten.
- The win marks the fourth time this season out of five attempts that the Hoosiers have knocked off a ranked opponent at home.
- Indiana hit five-straight 3-point attempts to begin the game, including four from senior guard Devonte Green to take a 25-16 lead, which forced an Iowa timeout with 12:15 remaining in the first half.
- Indiana went on a 17-3 run to take a 31-16 lead on a senior forward De'Ron Davis free throw with 9:48 remaining in the first half.
- Sophomore guard Rob Phinisee made his first two 3-point attempts to begin the second half to give IU a 60-40 lead at the 15:32 mark of the second half, which wound up being their largest lead of the game.
- IU went 11-of-21 from behind the arch, which sets a new season high for 3-pointers made in a game and Green made seven of those attempts, which is one short of his career high. The last time IU hit double-digit 3-pointers in a game was against Ohio State in the 2019 Big Ten Tournament on March 14.
- Iowa averages eight 3-pointers made per game but the Hoosier defense held the Hawkeyes to 4-of-14 from behind the arc. IU also forced 19 turnovers, when the Hawkeyes only average 12.2 per game.
- Indiana outrebounded the Hawkeyes 39-28 and outscored Iowa off the bench, 45-16.
- The Hoosiers had four players in double figures, Green (27), freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis (17), Phinisee (12) and redshirt sophomore forward Race Thompson (10).
- Green recorded a team-high 27 points on 7-of-11 from behind the arc and added four rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes.
- Jackson-Davis recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while adding two blocks and two assists.
- Phinisee tallied 12 points for IU, while dishing out a team-high five assists in 26 minutes.
- Thompson tied his career high with 10 points and set a new career high of four steals in a career-high 25 minutes of action.
- Junior guard Aljami Durham put up six points for the Hoosiers, while recording four assists and two rebounds.
- Junior forward Justin Smith recorded six points and grabbed seven rebounds.
- Davis scored five points and grabbed two rebounds in 10 minutes.
- Redshirt freshman forward Jerome Hunter hit a 3-pointer and grabbed four rebounds in eight minutes.
- Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk scored three points and grabbed a rebound.
- Freshman forward Armaan Franklin picked up an assist in two minutes.
- The Hoosiers will go on a two-game road trip that starts at 1 p.m. at Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 16.
